Apollinaris has been known as “The Queen of Table Waters” for many years now. This mineral water was discovered in the village of Bad Neuenahr (in the German Eifel region) in 1852 by a winemaker who simply couldn’t understand why his vines were not as healthy as those of other farmers in the region.
To his shock he soon discovered a source of bubbling springwater rich in minerals 20 metres below the surface of his land. His initial disappointment was soon forgotten when bottling this mineral water brought him great commercial success.
Apollinaris Classic is highly carbonated and has a full, somewhat salty taste (the carbon dioxide occurs naturally in the water). The medium variety is less carbonated (5.5 g carbon dioxide per litre).
