The underground source of Iskilde water, in the heart of the Mossø Reserve, was discovered in 2002 and is situated more than 50 metres deep.
The water from the source is under pressure, preventing any new water from flowing into it. Due to this pressure, Iskilde water can spurt naturally from the ground like a fountain. At a temperature of less than 8 degrees Celsius, Iskilde water is remarkably cold.
