This salty, gently carbonated water hails from the village of the same name in central France, and has been known as an eminent spa since 1860. Towards the end of the 19th century, Vichy received some 300,000 visitors each summer, including the French emperor, Napoleon III, and many wealthy foreigners. The beautiful buildings in Vichy are a still reminder of this glorious past.
Vichy has six sources of which only Vichy Célestins is used for the bottling of mineral water. It is a heavily mineralised water, certainly by French standards. The main ingredients are sodium and hydrogen carbonate.
